Land of The Cross River Gorilla: A Glimpse of Eden

Over the last few years both my wife and I have been working diligently to create international awareness toward the plight of Endangered Species and the impact it has toward both our communities and society as a whole along with a well received 'solution' !

As an internationally well known 'High Realist Wildlife Artist' both my wife and I have returned from a precedent UN acknowledged Expedition deep into the heartland of Africa's Cameroon 'Lebialem Highland' jungles in search of the MOST endangered gorilla on the planet, the 'Cross River Gorilla' (250-300 alive) were we climbed straight down into the valley below, along a treacherous 7km trail, carrying a heavy load of 75 lb each on our back in the unrelenting rains where we lived in habitat to study, sketch this near extinct primate creating the first ever professional painting bringing international awareness toward its dire plight (4 year window) This was highlighted in a report to the 'Executive Board of the United Nations' an amazing honor indeed!. This would be an adventure so few would be privileged to undertake, nor may wish to as it was certainly not a luxury safari and definitely not for the faint of heart!

Cave Temples of Pallava Kingdom

Hi,
The Pallava kings were very powerful rulers and they gave much importance to art and culture. They were the first to experiment on temple architecture and build 4 kinds of temples forms. All the experiments are found in mahabalipuram near Chennai. During this period Mahendravarman I constructed many cave temples. Mr. Ragothaman wrote an excellent travelogue regarding these cave temples. Do visit the art magazine site for more information www.paintershub.com/?p=140

Playing with colours

Hi,
Colour is still a mystery, although many scientist have found out many advanced theory's of colour, still it is a fantastic subject to study, to experiment and to explore. Many people know about color wheel, the primary, secondary and the tertiary colours. The real fun in understanding colors is by experimenting with colors or rather playing with colours. The more you study about it you learn more. Each colour has an unique character, a special place in the artist palette and a wonderful history. Not only this, it is also fascinating to understand the colour name and its meaning. For example., French ultra Marine is a cool blue colour. The name is because to get the raw material for this color, people used to cross the sea. Marine means sea and ultra means beyond. So the name French ultra Marine.

Similarly, Persian blue (one of my favorite) was discovered in the lab, but the intention was to get a kind of red and during the process Persian blue was discovered. This is the fun part in learning colour history.
The next interesting area is colour theory and colour mixing. 100% of students like to learn more of colour mixing by doing it. They feel like a game and if they come with the right colour after mixing, they are more than delighted.
Try giving a search on the word "Color" and you will see many websites, books, blog on the topic. One of the interesting experience i had during a research about colour is that my thirst to know more about colours and to experiment never ends. This text about colours may end in a few more lines but not the experiments i did with colour. I have found out many interesting facts and i am planning to use it for humanity.

Do write your experiences with colors. Let the world know your interesting experiences.
